in this video I’m going to give you a complete beginners guide to email marketing we’re gonna talk about why email marketing is important and why it works for your online business and after that I’m gonna show you how to sign up and set up your email marketing software and then integrate it with your WordPress website so without further ado let’s begin the first thing I want to talk about are the benefits of email marketing now you can apply this to e-commerce or any sort of online business or any sort of business even if you have a physical brick-and-mortar store so the first thing I want to say is that one of the benefits is that you get to capture your customers and build a platform that you own now when you create a YouTube channel or you create a Facebook fan page or a Facebook group or an Instagram page you do not own the platform and therefore you do not own the customers or the people who go follow you or subscribe to you you don’t have a direct line of contact with them because you do not have access or you can’t see their emails when they are subscribed to you on something like YouTube Facebook and YouTube and all this makes it hard for people to give you or opt-in their email on the flipside when you have your own website and you have your own email signup and email opt-in it is that easy to collect emails and have a direct line of communication so for affiliate marketing specifically it’s extremely important that you capture your own customers because when you’re an affiliate for another company you don’t own the customer or the brand or the product so when you’re promoting this other company and you’re getting a lot of sales for them you’re not really building your own assets and you’re not creating your own customer list email marketing and integrating that fixes all that now the next thing that I love about email marketing is you get to automate your business and marketing efforts with email marketing you can set up automatic emails so when someone signs up to your email list they automatically receive a new email every single day in a certain sequence this right here is one of the keys to turning a phil’ marketing a passive income because you can basically turn what used to be a one-on-one relationship where you would have to manually write to someone an email and then you have to respond and then follow up again and again now you can do the same thing but with thousands if not millions of people on autopilot automating your business is extremely important if you want to scale up because there are certain things that won’t scale up you can’t email thousands of people every single day with a personal email when you use automation it becomes that much easier now the next benefit is you have a direct line of communication with your customers and again this is something that if you build a platform on YouTube or Facebook or Instagram you don’t really have that direct line of contact for example with YouTube you can’t really message people directly and even if you do nobody really uses that feature with Facebook yes there’s direct messages with facebook Messenger but again they don’t make it that easy to have a direct line of contact where your message pops up in their inbox that they’re checking every five minutes of every single day email has a great chance because it’s something that you know they will at least see the subject headline so the next benefit of email marketing is you get to maximize your profit through repeat customers now repeat customers are important because basically with affiliate marketing you can either just sell one product or you can sell one product with a bunch of complementary products bundled with it maybe there’s a secondary or a third product that can help maximize your overall profit per customer and the last but not least for email marketing it is an investment to your business unlike Netflix which I believe now costs about 1314 dollars a month when you spend the same amount of money or a little bit more for email marketing you have a chance to make your money back if not more not the same with Netflix when you spend the money on some consumer goods then you can pretty much kiss that money goodbye when you’re investing into your business you have a chance to make your money back and more and on top of that if you have a business entity which anyone can set up something like an LLC then you can actually get tax write-offs depending on your state but if you’re in the United States you can probably get a tax write-off if you invest in to business services such as software so that right there is another reason why it doesn’t hurt you to invest into something like this because it’s something that can make you money and save you money in the long run so let’s jump into how to set up an email marketing software how to use it and how to integrate it into your website alright so here I have my WordPress website and you can see we really have an email opt-in right here but how do we get to this point how do you add this to your website and how do you make sure that when someone puts in their name and their email into this it gets added to our email marketing software the first thing is we’ll need an email marketing software so one of my favorite email marketing software to use is Constant Contact now this is a huge huge email marketing company and they have commercials on ESPN and other big channels on TV you’ve probably seen their commercials before so I have a link in the description below as with all my from some of these links not all of them but I do receive a commission and I just want to give you guys full transparency but I would never recommend a proctor service that I personally did not use myself and basically we’re gonna use Constant Contact in this tutorial and I’m gonna walk you guys through it step by step so the first thing you want to do is when you click the link in the ask you a few questions just to help customize your experience it’s all you have to do is answer these and then we can move on to the next step now they’re gonna ask you for your website so if you then sign up again starts at two dollars 95 cents per month once you have that website then we can start to integrate our email marketing software alright guys so here we are in the Constant Contact dashboard it’s actually a very beautiful user interface super simple whatever you’re trying to do you can easily just start doing it right so the first thing we’re gonna do is we’re actually gonna integrate this into our website and it’s really simple let me show you so there’s two ways to do this you can either download the plug-in and then upload it to your website or a simpler way is to go to your WordPress website go into your dashboard and then you’re going to add a new plug-in and all you have to do is search up Constant Contact and you’ll probably find that plug-in so you can see here’s the Constant Contact forms and all you have to do is install now and then you can activate the plug-in so there’s other plugins as well but we’re just gonna go with the official plug-in so as you can see right here we actually have it added to our website so you can see on the left hand side bar you will see contact form which is Constant Contact all you have to do is go to add new form but first I would connect it now to make sure that it’s attached to your account so that those emails are going automatically to your Constant Contact account and that you can build that email list because if you don’t do this you know you’d have to manually import those emails and we want to skip having extra steps less headaches less hassle we want to skip right to just having everything automated as much as possible alright guys so another way and this is the second method for integrating Constant Contact to your website all you have to do is download something like an email marketing plugin now it doesn’t have to be the official Constant Contact plug-in in fact I’m going to show you one right here this one’s called the hustle hustle is made from a very big wordpress developer community slash business called WP mu dev and so you just have to look up hustle it will have this icon right here this superhero all you have to do is install and activate and I already have it added to my website so I’m actually going to go into hustle and you can see here on the left hand sidebar there’s integrations and that’s exactly what we’re gonna do we’re gonna integrate our Constant Contact account with hustle this is the same general process that you’re gonna have for pretty much any email marketing software you’re going to look at integrations and then find that your we’re and then there’s really really easy ways to just add them in so here we have constant contact all you have to do add constant contact you authenticate it once you login to Constant Contact whether through the official plug-in or through Hussle or any sort of email marketing software and integration all you have to do is allow hustle’ access you click allow here and then it will connect the two together alright so now that we have constant contact connected I’m going to show you how to embed it onto a page so that you can actually have it on your home page and start collecting those email and every email that gets put here will be sent to Constant Contact as a list so basically you can access that list and you can also create an automated email to send out to everyone who signs up for this form so you can give them a welcome email of some sort so I’m gonna go into hustle and I’m going into embeds because this kind of often right here is called an embed because it’s um built into our page right here it’s not a pop-up it’s something that’s already built in so we’re gonna go to embeds now you can do a pop-up or any sort of different style that you want I just like embeds because they’re actually part of the website and then we’re gonna just do this create right here so we’re gonna create an email opt-in next and then you can just name it whatever you want we’ll call it newsletter to now it’s gonna create that embed for you you get to choose all the settings the integrations etc and as we learned before integration is really important that’s what we’re trying to do with our email marketing software so it’s gonna be creating this sort of template for you and then you can actually choose how you want you know the design and everything to be but you can also skip this if you don’t feel like doing all this it’s gonna just have the default the important thing is you go into integrations on this left-hand sidebar and then you use the Constant Contact integration now by default I think that the email marketing software will collect the local list so that just means it will collect their emails but it won’t do anything with those emails it won’t be added to your email marketing software it will just be on one place you’ll have to import and export that list if you want to use it with any email marketing software or the easy way is if you’re using an integration all you have to do is choose the email list you want people added to and you know if you go back to Constant Contact you can easily create separate lists alright so we’re here inside Constant Contact and I went to contacts on top navigation and you’ll see contact management you can actually create new email lists now you’re gonna have a default list that’s general interest but depending on what kind of customer for that email opt-in or maybe it’s separate websites maybe you have multiple websites like I do well you can do is you can create separate email list so that you can easily identify hey this list is for this website this list is for that website this list is for paying customers this list is for free subscribers so on and so forth all you have to do is click this plus icon and you can add a new list and I’ll call this free subscribers and then all you have to do is add the list now that we’ve added the list you can add contacts to the list through your website so let me go back to that embed right here and remember we have Constant Contact integrated into our website I’m just gonna refresh this sometimes it does take a few minutes to pull the right information so if you create a new list you know you might have to wait a little bit for this to catch up and see that new list okay so we’re here back in the hustle so we’re gonna add this integration right here and then we’re going to find the email list and we’re gonna refresh this just to see if it can pull some you listen as you can see that free subscriber list that we just created is now here we’re gonna save that so that our embed will send the subscriber the new subscribers here to the free subscriber list now so once you get that what we’re gonna do is we’re just gonna go ahead we’re gonna publish this so I’m gonna publish this to save it save our progress and make sure that this embed is working correctly and then what I’m gonna do after that is I’m going to go to display options because I want to take this shortcode so display options in the embed settings this shortcode is what we can put onto our website any page to summon the contacts in so I’ve copied this and I’m going back here this is my home page this is just a simple page right here I’m using Elementor for my page builder now I’m gonna edit this page and then I’m gonna add the embed form I already have one here but I’ll delete it and do it again so that you guys can see this step-by-step alright so if you want to add that shortcode you just have to look up custom HTML and then we’re just gonna drag and drop this on to our home page and then when you have that there the content is basically your shortcode you’re gonna copy and paste the content onto there it’s not going to show up so you’re gonna have to just apply that save it and then you can look at the page to see if it’s working so now we’re updating and we’re publishing the page so that the changes go live but now we should have that new embedded form and we should also be able to add our email to the free subscribers list okay so now that we’re here we want to preview changes just to see if this is working and you can even test out your email marketing software for yourself okay so you can see right here here we have the email signup I’m just gonna try this out so once you put your email there should be a checkbox that means that it got submitted all right so once you have contacts in your list now you’re ready to send out an email and the cool thing is if you create an email you can always automate that same email to anyone who subscribes after so right here I’m looking at templates and you have access to so many different templates that basically are going to fit any sort of task that you’re trying to do or any goal you’re trying to achieve you can see there’s a lot of seasonal stuff because it’s just for for Halloween it even has gifts so that means that it’s moving it has some animations but really really awesome templates right here you know you got templates for everything so when you have templates like this it makes your job and your life so much easier because you get to use something like a proven model you don’t have to start from scratch because hey I get it not all of us have that creative gene in us and we’re not designers by nature so to have this template to work off of it helps us to be creative within a certain boundary right all we have to do is swap out the text with what text that we want to put that’s relevant to our business but basically I’m gonna choose a fun one because it is almost Halloween so I’m gonna choose this Halloween coupon one you can even preview it if you want but I’m just gonna go ahead and load this one up start playing around with it alright guys so you can see we have a beautiful fun template right here you got coupon codes you got this animated gif right here so pretty awesome and you can just change this to whatever you want it’s drag-and-drop editable just like WordPress using Elementor so I can say get well you know what I’m feeling generous let’s say 50% off this awesome product that I made boom okay so you can change this to whatever you want you can change the font you can change the coupon code you can change the link here if you want change the link all you have to do is go into here click down for link choose a webpage and then boom copy and paste whatever link you want to put you know it’s really really really simple you can change your subject headline just by clicking into here they give you a nice default one but you can obviously personalize this to anything that you want make sure you remember that when this lands in someone’s email inbox you have to capture their attention so make sure you focus on that when you’re creating a good subject if you don’t have a good subject no one’s going to open your email and they won’t see the awesome content that’s within it so make sure you focus on that subject headline to make sure that people open this up all right I recommend that everybody preview your emails before you send them to a lot of people because you want make sure those links work and they work the first time because it’s really embarrassing that have to send an email again it may just annoy people is to make sure you preview your emails once you choose the email list such as free subscribers or whatever email list you’ve created all you have to do is click send now and then you can send the email and that’s basically it so super simple and let me take you guys back to our website again one thing that I want to say is when you’re getting or collecting email subscribers you want to give them a reason to subscribe so what you could do is you could create some sort of lead magnet and if you create that lead magnet maybe it’s an email with some information or a discount you can create this email first and then promise it to them when they sign up and then you can automate this so that they automatically get that email but basically email marketing it’s a lot simpler to start using and to integrate then people think I recommend that you start doing email marketing from day one because from day one you know if you start getting subscribers or if you start getting visitors from day one you want to turn every visitor into a subscriber as much as possible because then you have a chance to contact that person again and again and again into the future and you know they’re interested in your brand your niche your market so that the products that you have in your market or in your niche you can easily promote to them whenever there’s a new product on the market and update whenever you have a new piece of content that they may be interested in you can
